In a significant move to promote educational equity across Pakistan, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the expansion of the ‘Honhaar Scholarship Scheme’ to include students from other provinces. Punjab CM Expands Honhaar Scholarship Scheme Key Highlights:
- Nationwide Inclusion: The ‘Honhaar Scholarship Scheme’ will now encompass students from Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Baluchistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, providing them with the same opportunities as those in Punjab.
- Increased Laptop Distribution: The number of laptops to be distributed under the government’s initiative has been increased to 110,000. To qualify, students must secure a minimum of 65% marks, a benchmark that applies uniformly across all provinces.
- Extended Scholarship Coverage: The scheme now formally includes second-year, third-year, and fourth-year students in Punjab.
- Dedicated Support Helpline: A special helpline will be established to assist students benefiting from the ‘Honhaar Scholarship’ and Laptop Scheme, ensuring they receive timely support and information.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized the government’s commitment to youth empowerment, stating, “Education and the youth are our nation’s true investment. Every child deserves access to modern learning tools, and it is our responsibility to provide them.” She reaffirmed that students from all regions would be given equal opportunities, underscoring her dedication to educational reforms.She added that students from Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are also our children and deserve equal opportunities.

“Any student who secures merit-based admission in a good college will have their fees covered by the Punjab government.” As a mother, I want to change every child’s destiny, Maryam Nawaz added. Earlier, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif informed that the first batch of laptops has already arrived, and she has selected the best laptops available in the market for these students. Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, “All children with more than 65% marks will receive laptops. I will personally hand over the laptops to you very soon.”
